The March NebraskaCERT Cyber Security Forum (CSF) Announcement

For those that are do not know, cyber security or Information Security is an important topic for anyone who uses a computer or is on the Internet - similar to knowing how to check your oil & other fluids in your car and knowing how to change your tire. Ok, well how about at least knowing who to call that can help you with these things? =)

For the uninformed, here are two links to fill you in on the background and what a beginning user should know about protecting themselves while traveling the information super-highway:
- From US-CERT, Cyber Security Tip #ST04-03:
- CERT Coodination Center Home Network Security:
- Stay safe online web site, sponsored by the National Cyber Security alliance:

All three sites are excellent resources for all levels of experience & knowledge - highly recommended reading.

For those of us in the community who are Information technology professionals, the Nebraska CERT has a monthly gathering to share information (and a free meal) with like-minded professionals. Not just for those security 'geeks', but for anyone in IT - keeping the data and systems it is stored on is a concern for developers, sys admins, to managers - everyone involved. These meetings provide a superb cross flow between everyone involved, while discussing pertinent Information Security topics in today's world.

This months scheduled gathering announcement & information is as follows:
